Yesterday someone saw me
For what I really am
Can’t let those who aren’t ready
Interfere with the plan
Spread my wings and headed skyward
But I knew they’d already seen
South of Oakland almost 4 degrees
There’s a city named after beings like me
And I feel myself drawn there
Like so many mortals do
Can’t let them know I’m going
Until I’m already gone
This place holds great abundance
But I must be moving on
Hide my face with cheap sunglasses
Clothe myself in bluest blue
You couldn’t make me out against the sky
But it takes so much effort to travel upon high
So I take the Coast Starlight
Like so many mortals do
There will be churches there
So I can do the work that I was
Sent down to accomplish
You will see it when it’s time
I knew I had to call you
So you wouldn’t start to worry
You can follow if you want to
In a week or maybe two
Get off just north of the city
And step out in the sun
My mind is clear with purpose
Of what needs to be done
Take a minute to feel my surroundings
Send a prayer up to the Lord
There’s something to be said for the mundane
The oh-so-human urges for pleasure and for pain
I am so enraptured
By what these mortals do
